HOW TO START:
1) YOU AND YOUR RECIPIENT MUST INSTALL THIS PROGRAM!

2) UNBLOCK 110 and 25 TCP/IP PORTS in NORTON PROTECTION SYSTEM for Secure Messenger

STEP 1.
Make a new E-mail account (POP3 and SMTP type, like Yahoo or Google ...).

STEP 2 .
Download the Secure Messenger ZIP archive and unpack into temporary folder.

STEP 3 .
Run SETUP.EXE and Install the program. The Installer checks your Windows and download Microsoft Framework 2.0 (a new secure environment for windows applications, which supported many platforms) if it is necessary.

STEP 4 .
Run and setup the Secure Messenger. Fill up all fields ( similar to OUTLOOK) , select Working Directory and forward e-mail.The program tries to fill automatically if you press <AUTOFILLING> button. Please , fill up all fields ! Press test buttons to make sure that you entered right parameters. Put tick on "Authenticated SMTP Logon" and enter login and password if you use YAHOO account or similar.


STEP 5.
Create a new security key. Select first up item.


STEP 6.
Fill up all fields in form for key creation. Please enter data carefully because every key is unique even if you enter the similar data.

STEP 7.
Enter a new contact e-mail by pressing <NEW CONTACT> button or Double click on address name in contact list and the program send your public key to your recipient..


STEP 8.
Click <RECEIVE> button to get public key from your recipient. When your recipient gets your public key , his public key will be sent to you and the new contact will be activated ( OK status) YOU AND YOUR RECIPIENT MUST INSTALL THIS PROGRAM BEFORE COMMUNICATING ! Secure Messenger auto checks emails every 10 minutes

STEP 9.
Click <NEW> button to make an email to your recipient.
TO SEND SHORT TEXT:
press <Create Short Text Message> and enter a text in Text window.
TO SEND VOICE:
press <Record Voice Message> and record a voice message (press red circle on recorder to record and black square to stop). After finishing, close Sound Recorder and answer to question "Save .... ?" - YES (do not change the file name! ).Use <Add> & <Remove> to add/remove attachments. Use SHIFT & CTRL to add/remove several attachments. Click <Calculate> to estimate size of email.
TO SEND EMAIL:
Click <SEND> to send the email. Status of sent email will be changed to "Delivered" automatically when your recipient receives your email.


STEP 10.
Click <RECEIVE> to receive emails

STEP 11.
Click <View> button or Double click on email address in Received E-mails list to view received documents. Double click to File name to view or open attachment. Use <Play> button to play a voice message.

STEP 12.
Click <Save> to save attachments

STEP 13.
Click <Resend> to resend email. This function is implemented because encrypted email is possible to open only by private key of recipient.

SECURE MESSENGER INSIDE-OUT :

This is a structure of working folders. In this example Messenger is a named of working folder. All security public keys (program makes name of key as name of key owner) located in KEYS folder.
You can keys privately and drop the public key here, the program automatically installed them into system.

If you look at files in EMAILS or OUTBOX folders you will see what physically Secure Messenger received and sent. These folders contain RAW emails.

If you get problem with Secure Messenger than delete all XML files in TEMP folder of the program. Typically it happened when you mixed up side public keys or emails. The program will rebuild all XML files on startup.

Your copy of security certificate is located as MYKEY.PFX file in TEMP folder. This certificate has public and private keys. To reinstall the certificate into system manually, you need enter password which you typed when created the certificate.

UPGRADING / UNINSTALLING
To UPGRADE Secure Messenger you need Swap the new SecureMessenger.exe file over old one in installation program folder or UNINSTALL old version by running SETUP.EXE

To UNINSTALL Secure Messenger you need run again SETUP.EXE file and select REMOVE Secure Messenger.

IMPORTANT! PLEASE DELETE ALL XML FILES IN TEMP SUBFOLDER OF WORKING FOLDER (see picture above) AFTER UPGRADE !!!

Use Certificates Super Manager 1.1 to look and organize your security certificates.

When you receive a public key or click on <View Key> button you will see brief info of the public key. The most important information is Thumbprint and E-mail. The thumbprint is an unique number of the key so, if somebody made a fake key you just need to compare a thumbprints (call the recipient and ask to read a thumbprint). But possibility is close to zero because Secure Messenger checks e-mail address.
